History Of This Empire

History of Swami Vivekananda Sevai Maiyam

We started our nightschool in 2007 in the name of Swami Vivekananda Sevai Maiyam [Reg No: 397/11]

As a founder of this institution. Here I set out a mission to make 'EDUCATION AS AN UNIVERSAL WEAPON' for the students. I started this institution to the students who fails to get access to the quality education and started free evening classes on the seashore. Every year around 120 students got benefited.  From 6 pm to 9 pm students from various grades, from 1 to 12 of government schools in the area attend this nightschool that teaches the subject and as well as gain general knowledge. So far 3000 students have been educated with a holistic education system of our nightschool.

Here we are widening our student’s knowledge beyond education. The weekly curriculum is well charted with each day having a special session instead of each week so that all the seven days we had a special event.

Monday: Library Day

Tuesday: Students Lecture Day

Wednesday: Teachers Lecture Day

Thursday: Nutrition Day

Friday: Thirukkural Day

Saturday: Heritage Day

Sunday: Field Visit Day

Library Day:

We believe books helps us better our vocabulary, communication, enhance our language skills, express our thoughts and ideas better so that we give more importance to this day. Here all the students read the books for an hour per day. This depends upon their interest and grade. here as a teacher we facilitate the students.

Students Lecture Day:

We feel to make the destructive study cycle students to recognize the importance of being prepared for lectures. Each student gave a lecture from their textbook for 2 minutes it will increase their self-confidence and give them presence of mind also they learn stage presentation.

Teachers Lecture Day:

Lectures are an effective teaching method because they exploit the evolved “human nature” to improve learning. Here Teacher will share their motivational thoughts with the students. It will create an impact on the future leaders and make them understand that life has its own way of teaching to everyone.

Nutrition Day:

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Each day we provide Nutrition food as snacks to improve the health of the students. We provide pachapayar, sundal, & mukkadalai

Thirukkural Day:

The thirukkural is one of the most important epics. There is no digression of ideas. Every message is conveyed in simple seven words. This session takes 1 hour, in which students takes a kural and makes a skit with the morel of it and perform to the whole nightschool. This way they learn more skill, it will creates more confident level and on sport thinking to them.

Heritage Games:

Heritage Game are meant to be remembered with great honor and respect because they taught us a big lesson of not loosing one’s self even when life crushes us. We encourage our children to outdoor games too. Playing our heritage games is really good for their mental health. In every game, the person moves towards a particular goal and increases the concentration of the person. Students also not gets stressed over games. They accept the lose the same way as success. Here we play games pramapadham, pallanguzhi, etc..,

Field Trip:

Once in a month we take our students to orphanages, blind schools, hospitals, etc, as a service. Here my students lively learn many good things. Here we create a positive and loving environment for abandoned and neglected children feel at home and cared for, as social and professional development.

Traditions represent a critical piece of our culture. They help form the structure and foundation of our families and our society. Tradition reinforces values such as freedom, faith, integrity, work ethic, responsibility. On Traditional day we wear traditional dress as well as eat traditional foods like tender coconut, pachapayaru, mukkadalai.

Black Day:

While many people believe black brings bald luck and unfortunate thing to one’s life, we believe that’s just a color. We celebrate black because it contains all the colors and all the shades inside it. We wear black costumes on that day and celebrate as a family.

Student teachers:

In my institution, those who are all completed schooling, they voluntarily come and took classes for my night school students. So far more than 30 students volunteered themselves as teachers. At present we have 5 teachers working here as a volunteer.
